Mon, 9 July 2007 I'm off for a precious few weeks with my family and relax. In the meantime, Mitigation Journal will continue with some of my favorite lectures. I've recorded these talks over the last year or so and have chosen them because they fit in the current events and are relevant to what is going on today. The Dealing with Difficult Students and Student Evaluations talks are an extension of the emergency service education and planning theme of past weeks; while the Maintaining a Culture of Preparedness and Hazardous Materials lectures are a follow-up the Blast/Crush/Overpressure talk and relate directly to current events in the UK and the natural weather and wildfire events occurring in the US. These lectures will be posted on the usual Monday/Wednesday schedule between today and July 23. Being on vacation is not going to stop me from participating in next Medic Cast Live on July 10 at 10PM EDT. Medic Cast Live is hosted by Comments[0] |

Wed, 4 July 2007 The recent attempted bombings using vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED's) has been a stark reminder to the world that we are still vulnerable to such attacks and threats. Today's In Service Training Edition of Mitigation Journal focuses ont he potential outcomes of catastrophic bombings; explosive trauma, building collapse, and crush injuries. Although presented in the context of an intentional explosive event, this information can be applied to explosions and collapse situations from any cause.
